TYSONS CORNER, Va., June 3, 2013 /PRNewswire/ --MicroTech President & CEO, Tony Jimenez, received an honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters from the Massachusetts School of Professional Psychology (MSPP) this past Sunday at the school's graduation ceremony. Jimenez, an Army Veteran, was the only business owner to receive the recognition this year. He was given this prestigious honor for his sustained social responsibility and his commitment to the Veteran and Hispanic Communities.
Founded in 1974, MSPP is a private, not-for-profit institution that creates specialized mental health programs for graduates to provide assistance to all of the different mental health needs. MSPP is deeply invested in increasing access to mental health care, especially to two vastly underserved populations: Veterans and Latinos.

The day prior tothe ceremony, Jimenez spoke at the Mental Health Matters Conference - Military Mental Health: "Serving Those Who Serve Us." The event focused on the impact war has on Veterans, the challenges they face when they come back, and what citizens can do to support their reintegration into society. Jimenez highlighted how vital it is for private companies, like MicroTech, to support Veterans and their families as well as current efforts and what's required to succeed.
Honorary degrees were awarded to only five recipients at the graduation ceremony. The other recipients included Illinois Congresswoman Ladda Tammy Duckworth, who also gave the Commencement Address at the ceremony. She previously served as the Director of the Illinois Department of Veterans Affairs and was the Assistant Secretary of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. Dr. Ronald C. Kessler, PhD, McNeil Family Professor of Health Care Policy at Harvard's School of Public Health, is one of the most widely-cited psychiatry researchers in the world for the past decade. Dr. Terence M. Keane, PhD, Professor and Vice-Chair of the Psychiatry Department at Boston University's School of Medicine, co-Chaired the National Institute of Mental Health's Consensus Conference on Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. And a posthumous honorary degree was presented to Janice Furtado, an Air Force combat veteran and Clinical Psychology Department doctoral student, who helped create the Military Veterans Psychology program and the Train Vets to Treat Vets initiative.
