MOTECH-Sponsored Webinar to Address Critical Issues Involving Solar Industry Compressed Profit Margins

NEWARK, Del., Sept. 3, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Delaware's Motech Americas LLC, a subsidiary of Motech Industries, Inc., today announced it is sponsoring an educational webinar titled, "Mitigating Module Risk in PV Project Development," to focus attention on the multiple, critical issues that are driving compressed profit margins within the solar industry. Scheduled for Thursday, September 12, 2013 at 2:00 pm, Eastern Time, this in-depth program will feature three recognized industry experts who will present a focused look at the threats involved, and offer guiding perspective to benefit attendees. MOTECH works to provide a global source of clean and renewable energy, and strives to create a sustainable environment for future generations.

According to Dave Holleran, Senior Manager of Module Sales for Motech Americas, "Solar professionals everywhere have experienced their own circumstances that have impacted their profitability, and a need exists to take a current, in-depth look at the core issues. To accomplish this, the program will focus on the ramifications of module performance and reliability in the field, the limitations of standard testing and certifications in predicting long-term field performance, and best practices for solar EPCs and developers when it comes to module procurement and product risk. That's why we took steps to support this initiative."

Holleran added that pre-registration is required for attending the Web-based program, and interested professionals can access the form by visiting Greentech Media registration site at:

Greentech Media delivers news, research, and analysis in the business-to-business greentech market.

The expert panel, moderated by Shyam Mehta, Senior Solar Analyst, GTM Research, will feature Jenya Meydbray, Co-Founder and CEO, PV Evolution Labs and Raymond Hudson, Head of Department and Director, Solar Energy, DNV KEMA Energy and Sustainability. They will address such questions as:

  • What are the most common means of module performance degradation and failure in the field?
  • What materials, value chain elements and process steps have the highest element of risk or most impact on performance and reliability?
  • What are the limitations of standard certifications such as TUV and IEC, and standard testing procedures (e.g. flash tests, accelerated lifetime tests) in predicting performance/reliability? Where do they tend to come up short?

"This is certain to be a very worthwhile experience," Holleran added, "so we encourage solar professionals to take the time to register and attend the program."
