Senior Helpers Honors Caregivers for Extraordinary Service

BALTIMORE, Oct. 17, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Each year Senior Helpers, a national franchise offering in-home care services specialized for those with Alzheimer's and dementia, honors four caregivers across the nation for exemplifying extraordinary commitment to clients and their families and meeting the unique physical, emotional and practical needs of clients and their families.

Throughout the year Senior Helpers franchise owners nominate caregivers who continually raise the bar by going above and beyond for clients and their families. Four winners are chosen by upper management, one representing each region.

"The stories that we received from our clients about our caregivers this year were truly touching," said Peter Ross, CEO and co-founder of Senior Helpers. "Those incredible stories are precisely why we feel it's so important to recognize the amazing work that our caregivers do every day -- their heart, compassion and dedication."

This year's winners are as follows:

Patti Haggard: Santa Barbara, California
Western Region Winner

Patti found her passion for caregiving while caring for her grandmother after she suffered a stroke in 1987. Ever since then she has been pursuing formal education, including taking hospice care classes, earning her CNA license and enrolling in an LVN program. Haggard also regularly attends workshops offered by the Alzheimer's Association and has completed nearly every training module available through Senior Helpers University. Patti has been employed with a Senior Helpers franchise since 2011.

Evonnae Buford: Franklin, Tennessee
Southeast Region Winner

Evonnae has been recognized several times for her dedication and drive, both as a Caregiver of the Month Award winner and as the recipient of the Continuing Education Award. Buford has completed all of Senior Helpers' Senior Gems® training and is a certified dementia care specialist. Evonnae has been employed with a Senior Helpers franchise since 2009.

Vivian Keslar: Greensburg, Pennsylvania
Northeast Region Winner

Vivian came to Senior Helpers with many years of experience caring for and assisting elderly neighbors, friends and relatives. She was the first employee in her office to earn enough recognition points to receive an Apple iPad, which she is currently using to play memory games with one of her dementia clients. Keslar has also completed all of Senior Helpers' Senior Gems® training. Vivian has been employed with a Senior Helpers franchise since 2011.

Debbie Boone: Gladstone, Missouri
Midwest Region Winner

Debbie is a former insulin-certified CNA and CMT, and she was attending classes to receive her LPN when her father became very ill with COPD. During his illness, she stopped taking classes in order to take care of him but hopes to return to school and finish her degree in the future. Boone has been employed by a Senior Helpers franchise since 2010.

Each regional winner received a cash bonus and an all-expenses-paid trip to the Senior Helpers Annual Conference that was held in Austin, Texas, in September. The winners were also recognized by their peers and presented with a trophy during an award ceremony at the conference.
