HOUSTON, TX -- (Marketwired) -- 03/31/14 -- This year's GTL North America conference, which examines and assesses alternatives to convert shale gas into high-value products, such as ultra-low-sulfur gasoline, diesel, and lubricants, welcomes global engineering and construction firm, Fluor Corporation (NYSE: FLR). Vice President of Process Technology Paul Koppel will lead the workshop to consider the advantages and disadvantages of various conversion routes given North America's unique markets.
"Three authorities from Fluor will join me to describe opportunities and challenges producers should consider as they optimize the value of their production," Koppel said. "Each of us has skills in process design, conversion, synthesis, project execution and markets. By the end of the workshop, participants should have an appreciation of each conversion route and its applicability to the current market and specific project circumstances."
Irving, Texas-based Fluor works globally with clients to design and construct clean fuel projects. In February, its joint venture with Daewoo Engineering & Construction and Hyundai Heavy Industries was selected by Kuwait National Petroleum Company (KNPC) to design, construct and commission a clean fuels expansion at Mina Abdullah refinery. The project will increase the facility's productivity, delivering products complying with the highest environmental standards. A few days later, Fluor won top billing on Fortune Magazine's list of most admired engineering and construction firms for consistently delivering complex projects in remote locations.
"There are few organizations better suited to provide the market insights needed by North America's natural gas industry," said Chris Cothran, lead syngas analyst at Zeus Development, GTL North America's program coordinator. "Fluor has gained respect for its experience in numerous projects like Shell's Bintulu GTL plant, Reliance's Jamnagar Gasification Project, and the South Louisiana Methanol (SLM) facility." SLM executive vice president Robert Toker will present his project to the conference June 4.
In its fourth year, GTL North America strives to provide industry an appreciation and insights into various alternatives for gas conversion. Early registration for the conference and seminar is US$997. More information can be found online at www.gtlnorthamerica.com.
