American Water Works Company Inc Analyst Notes
On March 26, 2014, Pennsylvania American Water, a subsidiary of American Water Works Company Inc. (American Water), announced new water line installations in the city of Scranton to improve reliability for customers, reduce service disruptions and increase water flows for firefighting. The Company stated that it will cost approximately $1.3 million for system improvements. Commenting on the news, Manager of Field Services, Pennsylvania American Water, Anthony Gangemi, said, "We proactively invest in our local water infrastructure to ensure that we continue to provide reliable water service to our customers. Projects are prioritized based on a number of factors, including the need for larger mains to handle system demands, age, firefighting protection and history of main breaks or service interruptions." The improvements are set to begin early April 2014 and the Company expects the completion of the project to take place by end of July 2014.
