Huawei Launch Regional Campaign for Sports Fans through Global Partnership with LIGA BBVA

DUBAI, UAE, April 2, 2014 /PRNewswire/ --

Huawei offering trips to Spain for football fans that buy any Huawei Smartphone as part of the company's sports sponsorship strategy

Huawei, the leading global information and communications technology (ICT) solutions provider has launched a regional campaign aimed at rewarding football fans with the opportunity to see their favorite team live in Spain as part of its new global partnership with the official football league, Liga de Futbol Profesional (LFP).

This campaign, which launches from all major retail channels on March 25th, will offer fans across the UAE the chance to win a grand prize of a trip to Spain to watch an LFP football game with each purchase of a Huawei smartphone. Consumers will then be directed to compete in a Facebook Football game application as part of Huawei's fun and interactive competition in order to become the lucky country winner.

The campaign comes after Huawei announced it had signed a contract with Liga De Fútbol Profesional (LFP) in December 2013, which saw the company become LFP's official global technology partner. The GCC wide competition to send lucky football fans to Spain is part of Huawei's overall sports marketing campaigns to align itself closer to football.

Mr. Fernando Sanz, LFP MENA General Director, said: "Huawei's football fan engagement campaign is a creative and innovative way to reach out to fanbase in the Middle East, through its technology. Many people in the region are fierce supporters of teams in the LIGA BBVA and we are delighted to be part of a competition that will send a group of lucky winners to enjoy one of our matches in Spain. Huawei is a genuine leader in its field serving more than a third of the world's population with its information and communications technology; we look forward to continue working with the company in the development of its brand in the Middle East."

Last year Huawei invested in its global sports marketing program, signing a premium sponsorship agreement with both AC Milan and Arsenal becoming the official Mobile Partner and supplier of the communications solutions for the Premier League Football Clubs. Last year Huawei also stepped up as the leading sponsor of the Huawei 5th GCC National Teams Under 23 Football Championship and as a supporting partner of the popular Al Roudan Football Tournament 2013. Huawei has also sponsored the Twister Duo aerobatic team at last year's popular Al Ain Aerobatic Airshow, one of the region's most widely anticipated aerobatic events held in Al Ain.

Ashraf Fawakherji, Vice President of Huawei Device Middle East said: "Our recent partnership with LFP is the latest in a string of strategic sports partnerships around the globe that will help us better align ourselves with our customers. We understand the importance of football in the Middle East and that it's central to many people's lives - this is why we developed a creative way to engage with our perspective and current customers through the passion they hold for the sport. We hope that anyone that is interested in winning tickets from Huawei visit our Middle East Facebook page to find out more information.

Having started as telecommunication technologies and equipment supplier, Huawei has gradually moved into the consumer world with a wide range of mobile devices and connectivity products. Over the past year Huawei has achieved particularly rapid growth in the global smartphone market as one of the top three global smartphone brands, according to research from Strategy Analytics and IDC in 2013.
