The Home Depot, an ENERGY STAR partner since 2001, will be honored for its leadership in its long-term commitment to energy efficiency through promotion of energy-efficient products that earn the ENERGY STAR, the government-backed symbol of energy efficiency.

The Home Depot is receiving the ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year - Sustained Excellence recognition for engaging every aspect of its retail business - from increasing its ENERGY STAR product assortment to marketing and promotions, to building consumer awareness of and demand for ENERGY STAR. Through the sale of ENERGY STAR products in 2013, The Home Depot helped their customers save nearly $770 million in annual utility costs and reduced greenhouse gas emissions by 4.7 million metric tons.

"Our customers are increasingly looking for products that have earned the ENERGY STAR," said Ron Jarvis, vice president of Environmental, The Home Depot. "Our partnership with ENERGY STAR allows us to offer our customers high quality, energy-efficient products that will also save them money on their energy bills."

Through 2013, with help from ENERGY STAR, American families and businesses have saved $297 billion on utility bills and prevented more than 2.1 billion metric tons of greenhouse gas emissions.

"By providing customers with more energy-efficient choices, The Home Depot is helping American consumers save energy and money while protecting the environment," said EPA Deputy Administrator Bob Perciasepe. "ENERGY STAR products help to reduce harmful carbon pollution that contributes to the changing climate."

The 2014 Partner of the Year Awards are given to a variety of organizations to recognize their contributions to reducing greenhouse gas emissions through superior energy efficiency. Award winners are selected from the 16,000 organizations that participate in the ENERGY STAR program.
