Akamai Appoints Seksom Suriyapa as Head of Corporate and Business Development

CAMBRIDGE, Mass., April 14, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Akamai Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ: AKAM), the leading provider of cloud services for delivering, optimizing and securing online content and business applications, today announced the appointment of Seksom Suriyapa as Senior Vice President of Corporate and Business Development. Mr. Suriyapa will be responsible for leading Akamai's corporate development and strategic partnership activities. He will report to Rick McConnell, Akamai's President of Products and Development, and will be a member of the senior management team under CEO Tom Leighton.

With more than two decades of experience working with global businesses at all stages of development - from start up to billion dollar scale - Mr. Suriyapa has driven the go-to-market and corporate strategic initiatives such as acquisitions, divestitures, partnerships and joint ventures for a number of leading cloud and security providers.

"Seksom has a great deal of industry and functionally-relevant experience that he brings to Akamai," said McConnell. Most recently, Mr. Suriyapa served as SVP and Chief Operating Officer at SuccessFactors, an SAP company. He helped position SuccessFactors within the cloud software market, developing and leading the company's successful acquisitions strategy. During his tenure, SuccessFactors grew revenues from approximately $100M to more than $1 billion.

Mr. Suriyapa's experience leading corporate development also includes roles at McAfee where, as the SVP of Corporate Development, he successfully led its re-positioning as a leading security-only pure play. In addition, he has established business development teams at leading security vendors such as Veracode. Earlier in his career, Mr. Suriyapa served as a technology investment banker, most recently with Morgan Stanley, as well as in venture capital, as an Entrepreneur-in-Residence at the Mayfield Fund.

Mr. Suriyapa holds a JD from Stanford Law School, an MBA from INSEAD Business School, and a BA from Williams College.

He is based in Akamai's Santa Clara, CA, office.
