On June 9, 2014, Analog Devices Inc. (Analog Devices) announced that it has entered into a definitive agreement with Hittite Microwave Corporation to acquire the latter for $78 per share in cash, representing Hittite's total enterprise value at approximately $2 billion. The acquisition will be funded through a combination of cash on hand and short-term debt financing. The transaction, which is expected to close near the end of ADI's Q3 2014, has received approval from both companies' Board of Directors. ADI President and CEO, Vincent Roche, commented, "Hittite's strength in RF, microwave, and millimeter wave technology complements ADI's RF and signal conversion expertise. Our combined capabilities will enable us to bring more complete solutions to our customers and address more of the industrial, communications infrastructure, and automotive markets." athenahealth, Inc. Analyst Notes
On June 9, 2014, athenahealth, Inc. (athenahealth) announced that Epocrates remains the top medical reference app in terms of reach on smartphones. The Manhattan Research's 2014 Taking the Pulse® U.S. study reports that Epocrates leads the digital health market for the fifth consecutive year, given its popularity among U.S. physician app users using the app as a digital resource for professional purposes. Another key finding of the study is that almost one-third of physicians using Epocrates on a smartphone launch the app three or more times a day in between and during patient consults. athenahealth CMO and Epocrates President Rob Cosinuke commented, "Epocrates lives and breathes its mission to be health care professionals' most trusted service by helping them make decisions with confidence and efficiency during moments of care. (Flextronics) announced that Aviage Systems has selected the Company to manufacture Integrated Modular Avionics (IMA) cabinet units to support commercial aircraft programs in China. The IMA Cabinet is responsible for interconnecting flight controls with the plane's other subsystems, and forms the core avionics system of an aircraft. The system requires a vast range of components such as a high precision card cage, multiple backplanes and large cable assemblies. Flextronics Senior Vice President of Aerospace and Defense Dan Ostrosky commented, "We are very pleased to partner with Aviage Systems and contribute to this prestigious project. Flextronics strives to continually provide our customers with value-added supply chain solutions that further increases its success such as manufacturing support for the next generation of commercial aircraft programs in China."
