Flotek Industries Inc. Analyst Notes
On June 23, 2014, Flotek Industries Inc. (Flotek) unveiled its new Xylene replacement products, which include the FC-PRO-XR product line, at the Independent Petroleum Association of America Mid-Year Meeting held in Colorado Spring. The Company's line of solvents is citrus-based, specifically its technical grade d-limonene, a double-bonded hydrocarbon produced from the skins of oranges and an environmentally safe and renewable compound. Laboratory and commercial validations show that d-limonene is as effective as Xylene, which is a by-product of crude oil and a known environmental hazard, and other BTEX-type solvents in eviscerating pollutants that suppress production in oil and gas wells. The chemistry is presented by Chisholm during a presentation on emerging oilfield technologies including executives from Halliburton and GE Oil & Gas. Turquoise Hill Resources Ltd. Analyst Notes
On June 23, 2014, Turquoise Hill Resources Ltd. (Turquoise Hill) announced that Oyu Tolgoi LLC has received an audit report from the Mongolian Tax Authority claiming unpaid taxes, penalties, and disallowed entitlements with Oyu Tolgoi mine's initial development. The Company is of the firm view that Oyu Tolgoi LLC has paid all taxes and charges required under the Investment Agreement (the agreement) and Mongolian law. The Company and Rio Tinto are reviewing the detailed tax claim, wherein any element of the claim that amounts to a breach of the agreement will activate the dispute resolution process outlined in the agreement, including international arbitration. However, it is unclear at the moment that what impact these claims would have on the resolution of the outstanding shareholder issues. The underground feasibility study's completion is likely to be delayed if the tax matter issue is not resolved before June 30, 2014.
