MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA -- (Marketwired) -- 08/27/14 -- Tango, a leader in mobile messaging, today announced an exciting development to expand its recently added Channels platform. Tango is differentiating its offering and giving members more fun ways to connect with friends and family by introducing new music and entertainment Channels.
Tango announced that music and entertainment brands including AOL On, Funny Or Die, Hulu, Rhapsody, SoundCloud, and Vevo now have live Channels on Tango's messaging app, with additional Channels from BuzzFeed and Vimeo coming soon.
With Channels, Tango makes it fun and easy for Tango members to see updates from content publishers, brands, and people they love -- all conveniently from within the Tango app. Content partners can use their Channel to broadcast a message or engage Tango members by sharing the latest songs, clips from their favorite shows, and photos or videos. Tango members are able to bring the Channel posts into conversations by sharing them with friends or reposting them to their own personal News Feed.
Tango Channels was originally launched this year on June 10, and today includes more than 30 different Channels from partners including Bleacher Report, Dailymotion, 8tracks, Mode Media, WhoSay, and many others.
Tango's first entry into music and entertainment was with Spotify in October 2013 when the company announced Spotify's integration into the Tango mobile messaging platform. It gave Tango members access to a catalog of more than 20 million songs on Spotify, allowing them to make music a part of messaging.
"We're going big on music and entertainment, and excited about the popular brands we've been able to add into Channels," said Uri Raz, founder and CEO of Tango. "With the addition of these music and entertainment brands we are able to give our members even more ways to communicate, discover and share."
