
OTTAWA, ONTARIO -- (Marketwired) -- 09/15/14 -- Their Excellencies the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada, and Mrs. Sharon Johnston will meet with Their Royal Highnesses Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary of Denmark, at Rideau Hall, on Wednesday, September 17, 2014.
Their Royal Highnesses will travel to Ottawa and Toronto as part of an official visit to Canada from September 17 to 19, 2014. During this visit, they will participate in a number of business and cultural activities with the objective of strengthening relations between Denmark and Canada.

11:30 a.m. Meeting with Their Royal Highnesses Upon arrival at Rideau Hall, Their Excellencies will meet with Their Royal Highnesses to discuss Canada and Denmark's mutual interests. Large Drawing Room, Rideau Hall PHOTO OP - At the beginning of the meeting 12:00 p.m. Luncheon Discussion Their Excellencies, joined by Their Royal Highnesses, will host a discussion on research, trade and innovation for the purpose of promoting greater collaboration between both countries. Reception Room, Rideau Hall PHOTO OP - At the beginning of the luncheon 1:30 p.m. Visit to Ceremonial Tree Planted by Her Majesty Queen Margrethe II of Denmark Prior to their departure from Rideau Hall, Their Royal Highnesses will stop at the red oak tree planted by Her Majesty Queen Margrethe II of Denmark, the Crown Prince's mother, on October 11, 1991, during a State visit to Canada. The Danish community is invited to join Their Royal Highnesses on this occasion. The tradition of ceremonially planting a tree marking visits by members of a royal family, heads of State and other dignitaries began over a century ago.
