In a unanimous vote, the Board of Governors, which steers the Manufacturing Leadership Council and its global community of more than 7,000 industry executives, approved the nomination earlier this month. With this appointment, the Board of Governors now includes 17 members from organizations such as Ford Motor Company, Lockheed Martin, Cisco Systems, UCLA, MIT, Campbell Soup, Lexmark International, Tata Motors, the University of Cambridge, and GlaxoSmithKline.

"We are delighted to welcome Patrick Poljan to the Board of Governors," said David R. Brousell, Global Vice President and Editorial Director of the Manufacturing Leadership Council. "Patrick's expert insights and deep understanding of shifting global supply chain strategies in manufacturing will be a great asset to the Board in its continued research and exploration of the critical issues facing the industry."

Poljan is responsible for Dell Inc.'s demand and supply planning, manufacturing and supply chain operations management and manufacturing engineering and quality. Prior to his current role, Poljan served as Dell's Productivity Leader, building structurally advantaged P&Ls for sustained competitive advantage across the company. He also served as Vice President for Global Operations and Technology Finance supporting Dell's PC and enterprise businesses.

"I am honored and excited to be on the Manufacturing Leadership Council's Board of Governors," said Patrick Poljan, Vice President of Global Supply Chain Operations at Dell Inc. "I look forward to discussing emerging global dynamics while learning and sharing ideas with members of this group as we all look to improve our competitiveness in global manufacturing and more broadly supply chain management."

Before joining Dell, Poljan worked as Chief Productivity Officer at SABIC Innovative Plastics and spent 16 years with GE in a variety of general management and finance roles. He holds a bachelor's degree in operations, strategic management and finance from Boston College and an M.B.A. from Columbia University.
