FreshGrade Releases New iPad App Bringing Better Collaboration to the Classroom

KELOWNA, BRITISH COLUMBIA -- (Marketwired) -- 03/03/15 -- Editors Note: There is one photo and one video associated with this press release.

Leading education technology company, FreshGrade, announced today it has released a new iPad app, to round out their suite of mobile offerings.

Leaders in education are challenging traditional report cards and parent communication tactics that have been used for decades. FreshGrade is giving teachers a new and efficient way to capture, document and communicate learning that can be shared with parents in real-time. "Right now, report cards are a periodic event that provides limited insight into the progress of a child's learning; the work that the teacher does to support that child; or context for why the specific grade was given," says FreshGrade CEO, Lane Merrifield. "Our goal is to provide more meaningful information in real-time rather than at the end of each term."

FreshGrade allows:

-- Teachers and students to capture learning moments in the classroom
through video, audio, pictures and anecdotal notes.
-- Teachers to make formal or informal assessments and post to secure
    digital portfolios for each student.
-- Parents and students to comment on portfolio activity and collaborate
    with the teacher.

For older grades, teachers can also set assignments for the students and have them document their own learning, upload files and make self-reflections through the dedicated student app. These flipped classroom capabilities are particularly useful for reducing workload for secondary teachers that have multiple classes.

FreshGrade is cementing itself in classrooms across North America, Australia and the United Kingdom as the accessible alternative to traditional report cards. Teachers are able to use FreshGrade for free by signing up for the new app, which is available in the Apple App Store, or by visiting freshgrade.com.
