DENVER, CO -- (Marketwired) -- 03/24/15 -- MOON, a member-based organization for veterinary referral hospitals, has announced that four of its founding members intend to merge, creating a national veterinary referral hospital group. IVG Hospitals in New England, Premier Veterinary Group in Chicago, Veterinary Specialty Group of San Diego and Wheat Ridge Animal Hospital in Denver, along with MOON, will form a new organization with 13 hospital locations in four major markets across the US.
"Over the past several years, MOON has provided the opportunity for our members to collaborate. This has resulted in the development of strong relationships and new opportunities," said Dr. Matt Tompkins, Board President of MOON. "We now have the opportunity to create a truly innovative, collaborative organization. As we move forward as one company, we can remove any final barriers to full collaboration and fully leverage our collective expertise," he continued.
The aim is to build a sustainable company in an increasingly competitive market. "We will be able to provide more opportunities for our employees, continue to bring great benefits to our referring community and offer excellent service and care for our patients and clients. For our vendor partners, this means that our four hospital groups will be more aligned, making it easier for vendors to do business with us," Dr. Tompkins added.
The MOON Stewardship Board voted unanimously to merge MOON into the new company, with a strong commitment to providing the same great services MOON members have come to expect and enjoy. "Although MOON's structure will change, it's our intention to continue providing the services and value that MOON offers. As part of the new organization, we will continue to provide our preferred pricing program and the annual MOON Summit," commented Suzi Martin, Executive Director of MOON. "Our goal is to expand the offerings from MOON into areas like learning and development, and procurement."
The transaction is expected to close in second quarter, 2015.
