Elsevier's Reviewer Recognition Platform Expands its Functionality

AMSTERDAM, September 3, 2015 /PRNewswire/ --

Enhanced Reviewer Page now provides overview of all reviewers' contributions and allows for sharing the page publically

Elsevier, a world-leading provider of scientific, technical and medical information products and services, has announced that its Reviewer Recognition platform has launched a new functionality which enables reviewers to list their entire review history, including their reviews for non-Elsevier journals, in one place online. It also allows them to share their Reviewer Page publically - increasing visibility and recognition of their work.

Through the Reviewer Recognition platform, Elsevier reviewers already have access to a personal review profile page in which they can view their Elsevier journal review history. The new functionality now also allows reviewers to list their peer review activities for all journals, regardless of publisher or whether the reviewed manuscript was finally published, and to share this list publically. In doing so, Elsevier will fully respect confidentiality around the peer review process.

"Peer review forms the cornerstone of trusted research outcome validation," said Philippe Terheggen, Managing Director Journals at Elsevier. "Through the Reviewer Recognition platform, and the new public Reviewer Page specifically, we want to ensure that reviewers get the recognition they deserve."

Dr. Simon Gosling, Associate Professor at the University of Nottingham and academic adviser working with Elsevier in developing the Reviewer Recognition platform, said, "The public Reviewer Page is both an exciting and significant development which shows Elsevier is taking the effort and time that reviewers put into the academic publishing process very seriously."

Other features available for reviewers of Elsevier titles via the Reviewer Recognition platform are:

  • Reviewer status based on number of reviews
  • An annual review history report
  • Reviewer discounts on book and author services purchases
  • Certificates based on review history
  • Option to volunteer to review for more journals
