Global Aircraft Synthetic Vision System Market 2016-2020 With Cobham, Garmin, Honeywell, Rockwell Collins & Universal Avionics Systems Dominating - Research and Markets

DUBLIN, August 16, 2016 /PRNewswire/ --

Research and Markets has announced the addition of the "Global Aircraft Synthetic Vision System Market 2016-2020" report to their offering.

The global aircraft synthetic vision system (SVS) market to grow at a CAGR of 6.33% during the period 2016-2020.

Global Aircraft Synthetic Vision System (SVS) Market 2016-2020, has been prepared based on an in-depth market analysis with inputs from industry experts. The report covers the present scenario and the growth prospects of the global aircraft synthetic vision system (SVS) market for 2016-2020. It also presents the market landscape and a corresponding detailed analysis of the five major vendors operating in the market.

Developments in product range will be a key trend for market growth. Various major vendors are developing a new and improved range of SVS products for diverse aircraft. For instance, in 2012, Honeywell developed a CVS, which combines synthetic vision with infrared imagery and creates an improved experience for lower landing minima. Rockwell Collins is another company developing its own range of SVS, which is expected to offer practical and operational advantages mainly for retrofitting systems on transport or business aircraft. Along with transport and business aircraft, Rockwell is also targeting lighter aircraft with its new compact HGS-350 HUD with synthetic vision. Companies such as Cobham provide SVS for both fixed-wing and rotorcraft and are also considering the requirements for aircraft retrofit and modernization.

According to the report, one of the key drivers for market growth will be the increasing research and development investments. Since a decade, NASA has been at the forefront of the SVS research program, with participation from institutions such as Avionics Engineering Center for Synthetic Vision Research, NASA's Langley Research Center, researchers from FAA and DOD, and several industry teams. Several major vendors, such as Honeywell, Rockwell Collins, and Cobham are also involved in the effort to design and develop the new and improved systems.

Further, the report states that issues associated with database integrity will be a challenge for the market. As SVS are dependent on a stored database, the latest changes in external terrain, runways, or urban features may not be displayed. In addition, the infrared camera used in enhanced vision system (EVS) (combined vision system [CVS] uses both EVS and SVS) cannot see through clouds and fog.
