Digital Domain, one of the largest and most influential visual effects studios in the world, today announced a strategic partnership with Gyro AS and Warner Bros. ITVP Norge (Warner Bros. AS) to produce and globally distribute the 2016 Nobel Peace Prize Concert live in 360° virtual reality as part of an exclusive, multi-year agreement. The 2016 Nobel Peace Prize Concert takes place Sunday, December 11, in Oslo, Norway, and will be the 23rd in an annual series that began in 1994. This partnership is part of Digital Domain's broader strategic objective to further expand its 360° virtual reality product and service offerings to Europe.
"For a prestigious event like the Nobel Peace Prize Concert, it's essential to choose partners with the ability to distribute the concert globally, particularly across Asia and the burgeoning Hong Kong market," said Daniel Seah, Chief Executive Officer, Digital Domain Holdings Limited. "Between the longtime communications experience of Warner Bros. Norway and Gyro's production expertise, we're confident that this partnership will bring the concert's message of peace to a younger, tech-savvy demographic around the world."
"With their industry-leading virtual reality techniques and proprietary technology, we're excited to be partnering with Digital Domain," said Kristian Kirkvaag, Executive Producer, Gyro. "Our history with experience-based communication and our production capabilities make Digital Domain an ideal strategic fit, and we look forward to expanding possibilities as well as their capabilities across neighboring regions."
"We knew we'd need a partner alongside Gyro with both the technical know-how and expertise to seamlessly produce and broadcast an event like this live in 360° to an audience around the world," said Odd Arvid Stromstad, Managing Director, Warner Bros. Norway. "Digital Domain is a leading global technology and entertainment content producer, and we look forward to sharing this significant event and sharing the message of peace."
