The annual listing, published in this week's Sunday Times [4 December], is a league table of Britain's private companies with the fastest-growing sales.
Founded in 2000 by Robert Grays and Lesley Phillips, Prospero Group's core business is teacher recruitment.
Managing Director Rob Grays said: 'We take our name from the master magician of Shakespeare's, 'The Tempest', and use a quote from one of his most famous speeches 'such stuff as dreams are made on' for our corporate tagline.
'We're absolutely thrilled to be the highest ranked education recruiter on the Sunday Times Virgin Fast Track 100, and the fact that we have been listed for the second consecutive year is proof of our consistent and sustainable growth. We are also delighted to be in such distinguished company again.'
Rob said the recognition was testament to the dedication and hard work of the whole Prospero team and reflected the astonishing business expansion since it was founded 16 years ago: 'Our annual sales rise over 3 years is 58% taking us to £23.5m this year and we now have offices all over the country as well as a global presence in markets like Dubai, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. Watch this space for further growth in 2017. '
'We work in partnership with schools all over the country to secure the right teaching staff for their classrooms,' explained Rob. 'And we recruit from all over the world to find the people they need. They have to be highly qualified, but they need to offer much more than that we look for teachers with a real passion for their work.'
He added: 'There's a common misconception that teacher recruitment is all about 'gap-filling' when Mrs Kelly's sick and there's no one to take Year 9 History but this couldn't be further from the truth. Some 80 percent of the appointments we make are for two years or more, so we're making a highly significant, sustained contribution to the education of children up and down the country. And at a time when teacher recruitment is such a challenge, our contribution is more crucial than ever.'
To Prospero, education is far more than a business: it also gives back. The company nurtures its teachers, providing them with high-quality, accredited career development. It has also created, funds and runs a major campaign to raise aspiration and develop resilience in children and young people. With workshops delivered by athlete Dean Macey and rugby legend Martin Offiah MBE, Prospero helps pupils people explore issues such as diversity and how to identify and deal with bullying.
Hundreds of children and young people at schools all over the country have benefited from their school workshops and the feedback has been fantastic.
- The Prospero Group also works with charities, outreach/community services, and residential care for the elderly and children.
