NetEase Kaola Launches Partnership Plan to Increase Access to European Products for Chinese Consumers

- Commits to purchase €3 billion of European products over the next three years

- Investment in international network with additional nine warehouses in the pipeline

FRANKFURT, Germany, April 11, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- NetEase Kaola, a leading Chinese cross-border e-commerce platform, today launched its new European Partnership Plan (The Plan) at a conference in Frankfurt, Germany. The European Partnership Plan will focus on developing deeper relationships with European businesses with the ambition to bring more international products to market in China.

As part of The Plan, NetEase Kaola has committed to buy €3 billion of European products over the next three years, which will provide access to more than 2,000 European brands for Chinese consumers through its platform.

The conference was attended by Norbert Noisser, Deputy Head of Division for Foreign Trade, Location Policy at the Ministry of Economics, Energy, Transport and Regional Development of the State of Hessen and Sonja Muller, Director of China Competence Center and East Asia, Frankfurt am Main Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IHK).

Zhang Lei, CEO of NetEase Kaola

Zhang Lei, CEO of NetEase Kaola said, "We are thrilled to kick off our European Partnership Plan in Frankfurt. There is a significant and growing demand for high quality, European products in China and our platform, with its fully integrated supply network, gives international businesses direct access to consumers across China. Over 1,000 European brands have been on sale on Kaola.com since our launch in 2015 and we are committed to helping many more achieve their ambitions in China. From Germany alone, we now have over 200 brands available on NetEase Kaola and we plan to increase this to 500 by the end of this year."

To support the Partnership Plan, and enable this growth, the company will build an additional six international warehouses in the UK, Italy, France and Spain as well as making further investments in its European Operations Center, which opened in Frankfurt in 2016. This unique, interconnected and secure supply network gives sellers the ability to ship their products conveniently and safely -- guaranteeing product integrity as well as peace of mind for consumers in China.

Norbert Noisser, Deputy Head of Division for Foreign Trade, Location Policy at the Ministry of Economics, Energy, Transport and Regional Development of the State of Hessen, stated, "As China's middle class continues to grow, so too does the demand for high quality European products. We are proud to export 'Made in Germany' goods to China and NetEase Kaola offers German businesses access to this enormous market through a platform that guarantees the integrity of their products and provides the credibility and proof of origin that Chinese consumers demand."

Sonja Muller, Director of China Competence Center and East Asia, Frankfurt am Main Chamber of Commerce, said, "It is a great honor that NetEase Kaola has chosen to launch their European Partnership Plan in Frankfurt. It demonstrates their belief in the growing demand for quality German products in China and I am excited about the potential that this program will offer to companies from Frankfurt, the State of Hessen and from across Germany as a whole."

NetEase Kaola has committed to buy €3 billion of European products over the next three years

As announced ahead of the conference, four leading German businesses have all signed agreements today to make their products available to Chinese consumers through NetEase Kaola. EuroComfort Group, P&M, Hape, and Best 1 MED have each signed a memorandum of understanding which will enable them to take advantage of NetEase Kaola's network and infrastructure to reach new customers in China

Frank Ganse, Chief Director of Sales of EuroComfort Group, said, "EuroComfort Group has been committed to quality. Our cooperation with NetEase Kaola is based on the same commitment. Quality does not only refer to product; it means elevation of experience throughout the whole consumption process. Only with this can the real essence of quality of European products be felt by Chinese consumers."
