Globally, 23 Countries have Public Hydrogen Stations Deployed as of the First Half of 2017, with the Number of Stations Totaling a Little Over 250

DUBLIN, October 13, 2017 /PRNewswire/ --

The "Hydrogen Station Global Deployments - A Global Analysis, October 2017" report has been added to Research and Markets' offering.

Research and Markets Logo

This is a status report on the deployment of hydrogen fueling stations in various regions of the world. It covers all the countries where hydrogen stations are being deployed.

Globally, 23 countries have public hydrogen stations deployed as of the first half of 2017, with the number of stations totaling a little over 250. Asia leads the world in hydrogen station deployments followed by Europe. Both Asia and Europe have over 40 percent of these stations each, and the Americas has only 16 percent.

In terms of countries, Japan has more hydrogen stations than any other country in the world. The U.S. has the second highest number of hydrogen stations globally, followed by Germany.

Japan is also ahead of the world in the quality of hydrogen stations. None of the stations in the country is more than three years old, with the majority deployed during 2016 and 2017. Japan is the only country supporting 82 MPa, and over 75 percent of its stations support the standard.

The growing concentration of hydrogen stations in Germany notwithstanding, the hydrogen stations in most of Europe are generally spread out, negatively impacting the adoption of fuel cell vehicles.

As hydrogen station costs decline, hydrogen station deployment activity in most regions of the world is picking up. This, in turn, will increase the adoption of fuel cell vehicles in these regions.
