London's FTSE 100 was up 0.1% to 7,006.93 in afternoon trade on Wednesday, reversing earlier losses as biopharmaceutical company Shire rocketed on deal news. Shire surged after Japan's Takeda Pharmaceutical said it was considering making an approach regarding a possible offer for the company. Shire issued a statement saying it had received no approach from Takeda and that there was no certainty a bid would be forthcoming or as to the terms of any such bid.
