FORT MYERS, Fla., June 17 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Chico's FAS, Inc. announced today that Ajit Patel, the Company's Chief Information Officer, is no longer employed by the Company. His association with Chico's and his executive officer position both ended effective May 21, 2004.

"We do not expect Mr. Patel's departure to negatively affect our ability to support our ongoing operations," said Scott Edmonds, Chico's President and Chief Executive Officer. "I believe we have positioned ourselves with a competent staff that should be more than capable to handle day-to-day operation and maintenance of the Company's systems going forward. Also, on an interim basis, we have retained the services of an independent information technology consultant from Cap Gemini who is essentially serving as an interim CIO until we are able to identify and engage a new Chief Information Officer. We are confident that this arrangement will allow for smooth operations of the department during the transition."

Chico's sells exclusively designed, private-label women's clothing and related accessories. The Company operates 582 women's specialty stores, including stores in 46 states, the District of Columbia, the Virgin Islands, and Puerto Rico operating under either the name Chico's or White House | Black Market. The Company owns 413 Chico's front-line stores, 24 Chico's outlet stores, and 133 White House | Black Market stores; franchisees own and operate 12 Chico's stores.

Hensoldt, Renk & Rheinmetall teuer
