CA's CleverPath Positioned in Leader Quadrant in Analyst Firm's Business Rules Engine Research Report

ISLANDIA, N.Y., Feb. 17 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Computer Associates International, Inc. today announced that CleverPath Aion Business Rules Expert has been positioned in the "Leader" quadrant of Gartner, Inc.'s Business Rules Engine (BRE) 2005 Magic Quadrant.*

The report positions vendors based on their "completeness of vision" and "ability to execute on that vision," Gartner defines Magic Quadrant leaders as vendors who are performing well today, have a clear vision of the market direction and are actively building competencies to sustain their leadership position in the market.

Gartner said an increased emphasis on business agility is driving many organizations to Business Rules Engines and that all indicators point to a growing market.

"We're pleased to be recognized for our technology leadership and vision in the BRE market," said Don LeClair, senior vice president of development at CA. "As a large global software vendor, CA brings a unique and powerful range of resources to the development of next-generation BRE solutions and the support of corporate customers seeking to fully leverage BRE technology to achieve their strategic business objectives."

CleverPath Aion Business Rules Expert provides a sophisticated business rules engine, advanced inferencing capabilities, and a component-based development environment that allows organizations to rapidly build and deploy intelligent rules-based applications. Non-technical business personnel can easily build and maintain their own business rules.

LeFoyer Group, a leading insurance group in Luxembourg, is leveraging CleverPath Aion BRE to quickly deploy new insurance products in response to emerging growth opportunities on the web.

"Before deploying Aion, it could take us a month to manually develop a knowledge base," said Jean-Paul Schmit, application development manager at LeFoyer Group. "By electronically capturing the knowledge of our agents in a reusable development mechanism, Aion has enabled us to roll out new offerings in as little as a week."

The Magic Quadrant is Gartner, Inc.'s opinion and is an analytical representation of a marketplace at and for a specific time period. It measures vendors against Gartner defined criteria for a marketplace. The positioning of vendors within a Magic Quadrant is based on the complex interplay of many factors. Gartner does not advise enterprises to select only those firms in the "Leaders" quadrant. In some situations, firms in the Visionary, Challenger, or Niche Player quadrants may be the right matches for an enterprise's requirements. Well-informed vendor selection decisions should rely on more than a Magic Quadrant.
