PackSys Global Optimizes Business Processes with Agile PLM

SAN JOSE, Calif., July 2 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Agile Software Corporation , a leading provider of product lifecycle management (PLM) solutions, announced today that PackSys Global AG, an international manufacturer for packaging equipment, located in Ruti, Switzerland, is using Agile PLM to standardize and improve product development business processes. Agile PLM provides centralized data management for all company locations, and replaces previous proprietary software. For PackSys Global, this will speed up the processing of orders and new projects, and improve product development times for the long term.

PackSys Global (http://www.packsysglobal.com/) designs, builds, and sells machines for the manufacture of aluminum tubes and cans as well as laminate and plastic tubes. The company has sold more than 1,000 machines in 66 countries worldwide. Employees at the company locations in Switzerland and India will benefit from the higher data quality provided by the Agile PLM solution.

"It is extremely important to us that we are able to manage all product-related data from a central location. Agile PLM offers our employees a single solution for storing, viewing, and combining product-specific data. The standard database simplifies processes in project management and therefore speeds up the development of new products," explains Maurice Fehlmann, information and knowledge management manager, PackSys Global. "Users of Agile PLM are able to easily access information generated in our CAD program so that both new improvements and necessary changes to the machines can be implemented in shorter intervals. We believe that that the gains we are getting from the Agile PLM solution give us a competitive advantage."

An additional advantage of the Agile PLM solution is the option of integrating the system with other company software such as databases and ERP solutions. The automatic handover of items and bills of material functions smoothly and makes it easier to procure spare parts and materials.

"PackSys is a leading international manufacturer of packaging systems. The packaging industry is one that must be quick to respond to changes. Agile PLM will enable PackSys to optimize its product development and business processes, resulting in faster time to market," said Jay Fulcher, Agile president and CEO. "We look forward to working with PackSys as they start to expand the use of the Agile solution globally."
