RONKONKOMA, N.Y., Dec. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- National Hybrid Inc., a leading provider of key 1553 databus products and technologies to the military, avionics and industrial markets and a division of API Technologies Corp. (OTC Bulletin Board: ATNY), and Pulse Engineering, a division of Technitrol Inc. , have jointly developed the Bus+ (pronounced Bus Plus), the first, and smallest, MIL-STD-1553 data bus that combines a transceiver and transformer into a single package.
Designed for avionics and defense applications requiring components that are high density and highly reliable, yet compact and low power, the new Bus+ is ideal for use in a diverse set of space-constrained, mission-critical environments as found in aircraft and unmanned vehicles.
By combining National Hybrid's proprietary transceiver ASIC and Pulse's 1553-45 or 1553-71 dual ratio transformer into one board product, the Bus+ integrates sophisticated, state-of-the-art technologies. The transceiver features a dynamic offset range of -250 mV to + 250 mV as well as a maximum output noise of only 10 mV and a minimum output impedance of 3,000 Ohms.
The new Bus+ operates with a +5 VDD or +3.3 VDD power supply, +/-5%. With a +5 V power supply, the Bus+ dissipates up to 0.184 W of power and 35 mA of current in standby (no transmission) and less than 1.0 W with one channel transmitting at 100% duty cycle. The peak pulse current for +5 volt operation is 650 mA and 900 mA for +3.3v operation. The receiver differential input voltage is 15 VPP for the +5 V version and 12 VPP with a +3.3 V power supply.
Measurements of the new component are 0.4" (L) x 0.4" (W) x 0.185" (H).
The Bus+ is available with an industrial operating temperature range from -40 degrees C to +85 degrees C or a military operating temperature range from -55 degrees C to +125 degrees C. Soldering temperature is 300 degrees C and storage temperature ranges from -65 degrees C to +150 degrees C.
Pricing for the Bus+ (NHI-15901) starts at $90 per unit in 100 piece quantities. Delivery is stock to four weeks ARO.
