Ramsay Healthcare UK, the Leading Independent Sector Provider of Hospital Services to the NHS, has Selected HealthRoster to Enhance Patient Safety

LONDON, April 3, 2012 /PRNewswire/ --

Ramsay has appointed Allocate Software, the leading provider of workforce optimisation solutions, to nationally deploy its e-rostering solution, HealthRoster, across Ramsay's hospitals. HealthRoster will enhance patient safety by assisting in achieving the right mix of clinical and staff skills on duty day and night.

Ramsay will use the software to highlight any gaps in both staff cover and the skill mix as it expands its services.

Ramsay already has a superb safety record with excellent patient outcomes. For example, unplanned returns to the operating theatre within the same admission is one of the key standard clinical performance indicators required by the Care Quality Commission, and Ramsay hospitals have a very low rate compared to the national average. These and other key clinical performance indicators are published on each Ramsay hospital's website in their Quality Accounts.

Ramsay provides a comprehensive range of complex-surgical and secondary-care services across its network of 37 sites. This includes 22 acute care hospitals and 10 treatment centres managed on behalf of the NHS. They have a workforce of over 4,000 nurses, healthcare professionals and support staff.

Allocate's HealthRoster solution was selected following a rigorous due-diligence process. Allocate was able to demonstrate that HealthRoster can provide intelligent e-rostering functionality with a simple end-user interface to deliver financial savings as well as ensuring the right mix of staff are always available.

Robin Copeland, Director of People and Performance at Ramsay, explains why they chose Allocate's HealthRoster:

"As an independent healthcare organisation, we are focused on delivering anddemonstrating excellent patient care day and night. Allocate's track record and product fits well with our ambition to continue to deliver the very best healthcare services in the UK.HealthRoster offers an innovative solution which offers patients the reassurance that staff will be able to provide a service of the highest quality at all times."

Paul Scandrett, Director of Healthcare, Allocate Software comments:

"We are delighted to have the opportunity to work with the leading independent provider of hospital services to the NHS in the UK to deliver HealthRoster on a national scale. This significant opportunity has been built on our proven track record of success and our innovative outlook. As a forward thinking company, we look forward to working closely with Ramsay and providing them with the very latest technology to enable delivery of world class patient care."

Notes to Editors

Ramsay

The price Ramsay receive for NHS work is set by the Department of Health and is exactly the same price that is paid to an NHS Trust for the same activity. The cost to the taxpayer is therefore exactly the same whether a patient is treated by the NHS or an Independent Sector provider.

Ramsay has invested £125 million in our facilities in the last four and a half years to deliver improved access to high quality care for both private and NHS patients.
