NEW YORK, April 9, 2012 /PRNewswire/ --XBRL US today announced plans for its annual conference, September 10-12, 2012 in Austin, TX, which will feature a keynote address by Mike Starr, Deputy Chief Accountant for Policy Support and Market Monitoring, U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, as well as intensive XBRL training sessions and updates on new developments in XBRL creation and use. Public company external reporting managers and auditors will learn from in-depth presentations and hands-on, interactive discussion groups and exercises. Topics covered will include understanding the structure and components of the US GAAP Taxonomy, detailed footnote tagging, review, validation and best practice, plus an in-depth review of upcoming changes in accounting standards and the impact of those changes on the XBRL process. Other panel sessions will feature public company case studies, and investors on XBRL consumption. CPE credit will be available for panels and training sessions. The conference will also introduce the XBRL Data Forum, a1/2 day program of technical presentations and discussions on how to use XBRL SEC data, for developers, IT professionals at investment firms and interested public company representatives.

"XBRL is now a standard part of the public company financial process," said Terri Polley, President and CEO, Financial Accounting Foundation (FAF) and Chair, XBRL U.S. National Conference Advisory Committee. "This conference will offer financial reporting managers an effective training resource covering standard-setting updates affecting the U.S. GAAP Taxonomy as well as best practices to help streamline and maximize use of XBRL processes."

The XBRL Data Forum will feature analytical tools demonstrations, panels on XBRL data structure and on how to create XBRL databases. Finalists from the 2011 XBRL Challenge, an open source analytical tools contest will be on hand to present their applications and discuss the development process. Data Forum sessions will take place at the same time as Current Developments sessions but interested external reporting managers from public companies are welcome to attend.

"Use of XBRL data is on the rise," noted Campbell Pryde, President and CEO, XBRL US, "the newly introduced XBRL Data Forum builds off the success of the 2011 XBRL Challenge contest and will be used to encourage further tool development and help educate IT professionals, software companies and developers on how to use XBRL-formatted data. Public company professionals who are interested in learning more about how their corporate data is being consumed are encouraged to visit the Data Forum to learn more."

Favoritenwechsel
