Multi-platform SecureFX File Transfer Client from VanDyke Software Now Available for Mac OS X and Linux

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M., Feb. 26, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- VanDyke Software today announced the beta release of SecureFX 7.1, a secure file transfer client formerly available on only the Windows platform. SecureFX 7.1 adds Mac and Linux to its list of supported platforms.

SecureFX for Mac and Linux delivers the same consistent capabilities as the Windows version, including multiple file transfer protocols, site synchronization, and easy recovery of interrupted transfers. SecureFX for Mac OS X and Linux provides secure file transfers with SFTP, FTP over SSL, and SCP. FTP is provided for use on legacy systems.

SecureFX 7.1 is a powerful tool for individuals who work in cross platform environments. Maureen Jett, product director for SecureFX, said, "We had customers telling us that they were running SecureFX on Parallels or a VM. In some cases customers said they were staying on the Windows platform because they didn't want to lose the functionality they have using SecureFX for Windows and the SecureFX/SecureCRT® integration. Now with the Mac OS X and Linux support, network administrators and web developers can easily bring SecureFX over to the Mac platform (and even switch between Windows and Mac versions when they need to)."

A tabbed visual user interface makes SecureFX 7.1 easy to learn and allows sessions to be organized for optimum productivity. Network administrators can get started quickly using the Connect bar to connect to a host. SecureFX site synchronization handles upload, download, and true mirroring transfers. File filtering includes wildcard support, and commonly used configurations can be stored in the synchronize database for quick recall.

SecureFX 7.1 provides optional integration with SecureCRT, VanDyke Software's Secure Shell (SSH) terminal client, providing easy access to shared sessions and settings. SecureFX sessions can be launched from SecureCRT and vice versa, and terminal or file transfer settings can be changed from the Connect dialog in either application.

Also new for SecureFX 7.1 is a dependent session option that can be used to link a session to an SSH2 session that it depends on, which allows connection to a jump host before connecting to other sessions. On the Windows platform, support for SHA1 in RSA signatures allows X.509 certificates to be used in FIPS mode.
