The Mobility Industry: An Increasingly Vital Link To Independence

LOS ANGELES, June 6, 2013 /PRNewswire/ --Almost everyone knows someone in a wheelchair. Whether it's a returning soldier from overseas or a family member with a disability, the number of people with mobility issues is dramatically climbing. To address these growing needs, many companies within the auto industry are currently manufacturing thousands of mobility vehicles each year.

On June 11, the Motor Press Guild (MPG), the largest automotive media association in North America, will host a panel on the impact of the mobility industry for auto manufacturers and its presence as an important key to independence for many disabled drivers.

An industry-based conversation on the mobility sector and its weight in the automotive community has attracted the attention of major manufacturers, such as Toyota, Honda, Ford and Chrysler. Automotive and mainstream media are also taking notice, with stories throughout the past year about mobility manufacturers appearing in USA Today, FOX News, Motor Trend, Automobile, AutoWeek and more.

The June 11 MPG program will address how the mobility industry works, the significant increase in need for mobility vans, the importance of these vehicles and how the mobility retail channel differs from traditional car dealerships.

Notable presenters include:

  • Doug Eaton, Vantage Mobility International
  • Mark Oldenburg, Toyota
  • DeMarlon Pollard, National Service Officer
  • Mo Abusham, Southern California Mobility Dealer

Details for the MPG Panel are as follows:

  • Tuesday, June 11, 2013, 11:30 a.m.
  • The Proud Bird Restaurant
    11022 Aviation Blvd.
    Los Angeles, CA 90045
