NetSuite Responsive Web Design Enables Businesses To Transform Ecommerce

- Addressing Accelerated Growth in Mobile, UK Retailers Turn to Next-Generation Solution to Deliver Online Experiences Optimised for Any Device

LONDON, Oct. 14, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- NetSuite Inc. (NYSE: N), the industry's leading provider of cloud-based financials / ERP and omnichannel commerce software suites, today announced new customer rollouts on NetSuite Venda's next-generation responsive web design (RWD) solution that enables retail businesses to provide consumers with rich and seamless online shopping experiences that are optimised for multiple devices. Denby, Emma Bridgewater, and Cloggs are among the many forward-thinking retailers who are reaping the benefits of NetSuite Venda's responsive web design solution to dramatically improve customer experiences, instantly react to new device launches such as the iPhone 6, attract more repeat visits to their websites, and drive higher conversion rates and sales across the globe.

Consumers today expect a consistent and seamless online shopping experience regardless of the device used with many consumers moving between different devices at different times of the day. According to the latest IMRG Capgemini Quarterly Benchmarking Report, 52 percent of traffic to UK ecommerce sites came from smartphones and tablets. This marks the first time UK retailers received more traffic from mobile devices than from the desktop. However, many retailers in the UK are unable to meet this demand. With the mobile channel increasingly becoming the preferred channel consumers access first to engage with a brand, websites that are not mobile-enabled risk losing customers at the beginning stages of the buying decision.

"We are the first UK-based cloud ecommerce solution provider to make responsive web design standard for all new websites, which has quickly become a must for all online retailers," said James Cronin, Vice President of Engineering at NetSuite. "Delivering a consistent, high quality ecommerce experience for consumers, regardless of device, ensures that NetSuite Venda customers are best positioned to meet the demands of the modern, mobile consumer, and to capitalise on the growth of mobile commerce."

Retailers leveraging NetSuite Venda to power their responsive ecommerce sites are achieving the following benefits:

  • Higher conversion, increased sales - A seamless brand experience across multiple devices has been proven to increase conversion rates and sales, while engaged customers improve customer loyalty.
  • Increased agility, lower costs - Maintaining a single site versus a multitude of device specific-sites means retailers are minimising costs and increasing agility and speed to market, while improving search engine optimisation (SEO).
  • Wider audience, more customers - RWD maximises the reach and audience for a website by providing a seamless experience regardless of device.

Emma Bridgewater, like many other retail brands, made the decision to build a responsive site after the company discovered that approximately 50 percent of visitors to their website did so using their smartphone or tablet and significantly underperformed those visiting via their desktop computer. After a successful launch, both on time and on budget, the company has seen double-digit improvement in conversion rates across all devices, with mobile conversion over double that of the same period last year, and tablet conversion up over 40 percent. These improved conversion rates have also contributed to significant year-on-year revenue growth.

"Our new responsive site ensures that our customers are getting the best experience no matter which device they're on, whilst also ensuring we only have one site to maintain. We're already reaping the rewards of increased sales," said Greg Hockley, Head of Ecommerce at Emma Bridgewater. "Working with the NetSuite Venda solution has been a great success so far and has positioned us well for future growth."
