T-Systems Opens a New Data Centre in Hayes, West London

LONDON, November 24, 2016 /PRNewswire/ --

  • The data centre is part of a twin data centre, located across Slough and Hayes.
  • It houses T-Systems' new private cloud: the Dynamic Cloud Platform.

T-Systems has opened a data centre in Hayes, West London, to twin with its existing data centre in Slough, England. It has a scalable architecture designed to grow to hyper-scale and is located in the Virtus' London2 Data-Centre facility. This is one of four data centres that T-Systems operates in the UK and over 60 worldwide.

The opening of the data centre coincides with the arrival of T-Systems' next-generation Enteprise Private Cloud platform in the UK. The first business customer will start to move to the data centre in early December.

Christoph Rode, Managing Director of T-Systems Ltd. says: "We are very excited about the opening of this new data centre and the expansion of the services we can offer our customers. It not only gives T-Systems' customers a choice about the location of their data centre, whether to run their services in the UK or Germany, but it also positions T-Systems as a leading cloud service provider."

The data centres which house the platform offer a high level of intrinsic availability (Tier III) and are combined using a fast DWDM ring. This provides very low-latency and high-bandwidth networking between the two data centres. Both data centres are equipped with all the common carriers, which gives excellent network access both to and between the two sites. These features allow services to be shared easily across the two locations.

The new cloud platform itself adds a resilient dual-site storage architecture and a dual-site virtual machine architecture which together provide high-availability disaster tolerant services, network and data access. Add to this high security access control and management to provide industry leading virtual Private Cloud services.

With its industry leading SAP-in-the-Cloud capabilities, T-Systems is responding to the current UK demand, driven by the demand for SAP HANA, for a local agile Cloud Solution that meet the demands of the local marketplace.

About the Dynamic Cloud Platform:

The Dynamic Cloud Platform (DCP) is the common hardware and service base for T-Systems' range of Enterprise Cloud Solutions including Dynamic Services for Infrastructure, Dynamic Services for Collaboration, Dynamic Services for SAP and Dynamic Services for HANA. As a significant investment into the UK market, the new data centre provides a compute, storage and networking layer for T-Systems' Managed Cloud Services portfolio for the Enterprise, both for local UK and global Customers, forming part of T-Systems' Global Data Centre footprint covering EMEA, Asia and the Americas.
