In addition to extending its relationship with Digiturk, FSI has teamed up with Avrupa Sport Ltd. (a wholly owned subsidiary of Plan B Management) to give its viewers a more interactive and localized programming experience. Avrupa Sport will provide voice-overs in the Turkish language for certain programs on the Fox Sports network, allowing viewers to choose between English and Turkish commentary when watching sports events on the channel. FSI and Avrupa Sport will also work together to acquire the broadcast rights for local and national sports events in Turkey.
"Adding Turkish-language commentary and local sporting events is an important step in our network's growth in Turkey," said David Sternberg, Executive Vice President and General Manager of Fox Sports International. "The Fox Sports channel will now be even more accessible to Turkish audiences, while still providing coverage of top international football, auto racing, tennis and other sports events, and will become a more attractive vehicle for Turkish advertisers."
"This partnership represents an important programming milestone for the Turkish sports fan, by offering viewers key international properties in their native tongue," said Metin Dalman, Managing Director of Plan B Management. "Furthermore, the addition of local programming will help the Fox Sports channel to have a more local feel."
Fox Sports Turkey is affiliated with Fox Sports International, an international sports programming and production entity housed within the Fox Cable Networks Group, one of the major operating units within the Fox Entertainment Group (NYSE: FOX) and News Corporation (NYSE: NWS).
