MANILA (AFX) - First Gas Power Corp, a joint venture between BG Group PLC and First Philippines Holdings, said it is going expand its gas-fired power plant operations in the Philippines with a 500 mln usd investment.
First Gas chief executive office Peter Garrucho said it is going to increase the venture's total power output to 2000 megawatts from the 1,500 currently produced at its two power plants Sta Rita and San Lorenzo.
It was unclear whether this would involve building a new 500 MW plant or expanding the capacity of the existing ones.
BG has a 40 pct interest in the venture, with First Gas Philippines having a 51 pct stake and Meralco Pension Fund the remaining 9 pct. newsdesk@afxnews.com afp/rar COPYRIGHT Copyright AFX News Limited 2006.
