US House panel to tackle financial bills Wed.

WASHINGTON, Oct 8 (Reuters) - A U.S. congressional committee has formally scheduled a meeting for Wednesday to work on two key bills in the Obama administration's broad plan to tighten bank and capital market regulation.

The House of Representatives Financial Services Committee will meet on additional days if needed to complete and vote on bills to establish a Consumer Financial Protection Agency and to regulate over-the-counter derivatives, a House aide said.

The committee, chaired by Representative Barney Frank, had been expected to formally schedule the 'mark-up' session next week. Another session is tentatively set for Oct. 21-22 to work on bills affecting hedge funds, insurers and brokerages.

The House is targeting a final floor vote on a consolidated financial regulation reform bill in November.
