BANGKOK, Oct 18 (Reuters) - Thai King Bhumibol Adulyadej's condition is good and his fever has lessened, the palace said on Sunday, four days after concerns over his health sparked a tumble in Thailand's financial markets.
'His majesty the king's overall condition is good. He has a good appetite and can sleep well. Antibiotics are still given,' said a statement from the Bureau of the Royal Household.
King Bhumibol, the world's longest-reigning monarch at age 81, has been hospitalised since Sept. 19, when he was admitted suffering from fever, fatigue and weak appetite.
Updates from the palace on his condition have often been opaquely worded and the royal household last week said he was recovering from pneumonia.
The king, who has reigned for 63 years, is Thailand's single unifying figure and is regarded as semi-divine by many of the country's 67 million people. His health is an extremely sensitive topic.
Thai stock prices and the local baht currency fell sharply on Wednesday and Thursday on concerns over his condition.
