BEIJING, Dec 17 (Reuters) - China's Sinopec Group, Asia's biggest refiner and parent of Sinopec Corp, said on Thursday that its 2009 total crude imports would hit 138 million tonnes (2.84 million barrels per day).
The company's China Petrochemical News also cited a wrapup of a company meeting as saying that Sinopec would aim to diversify its crude suppliers in future.
Net crude imports by Chinese oil companies were estimated at about 195 million tonnes (3.9 million bpd) for the whole of 2009, a senior Sinopec Group official said last week.
Chinese oil companies imported 182.52 million tonnes of crude in the first 11 months, supplying the world's second-largest oil-consuming nation with more than half of its crude demand.
