ISTANBUL, Feb 8 (Reuters) - Turkey's Hurriyet Gazetecilik , the newspaper publisher owned by Dogan Holding , said on Monday Vuslat Dogan Sabanci has been appointed chairman of its management board.
Hakki Hasan Yilmaz became chairman of the executive board, the company said in a filing with the Istanbul Stock Exchange.
Dogan Sabanci served as deputy chairman under her father Aydin Dogan, Dogan Holding's billionaire founder whose departure from management was announced in December amid a protracted legal battle with the government over a record 4.8 billion lira ($3.15 billion) tax fine.
Dogan is also stepping down from his post as chairman at Dogan Holding, whose interests also include energy and financial services. Arzuhan Dogan Yalcindag, another daughter, is succeeding him in his post there.
Dogan Holding has said it will appoint professional chief executives as managers of its group companies in a restructuring aimed at attracting foreign partners and protecting its financial position.
Shares in Hurriyet dropped 6.52 percent to 1.72 lira, compared with the benchmark index's 2.96 percent decline.
Hurriyet is 67 percent-owned by Dogan Yayin, Turkey's biggest non-state media company which was fined last year for alleged tax irregularities.
Critics of Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan's government have said the fine is politically motivated, a charge he denies.
Aydin Dogan had been accused of using his media outlets to further his business interests and campaign against Erdogan.
Dogan Yayin fell 6.81 percent to 1.78 lira, and Dogan Holding lost 4.55 percent to 1.05 lira. Dogan Holding owns 11 percent of Hurriyet and 75 percent of Dogan Yayin.
