Wells Fargo ups American Eagle to 'outperform'
Wells Fargo raised American Eagle Outfitters Inc by a notch to 'outperform', saying the teen retailer's recent comparable sales momentum will continue into spring and begin to drive profit this year.
In a note to clients, analyst Evren Kopelman said he expects the women's business to continue drive comparable growth and added that the company's February numbers could be a positive catalyst.

The S&P 500 index futures fell on Thursday on weaker-than-expected results from Wal-Mart and as investors awaited jobs and inflation data.

Mart profit rises, but forecast light
Wal-Mart Stores Inc reported a higher quarterly profit on Thursday but said sales at its existing U.S. namesake stores fell during the holiday quarter and forecast earnings for the current quarter that could miss Wall Street estimates.

Microsoft expected to get OK for Yahoo deal: NYP
Microsoft is expected to secure the blessing of the U.S. Department of Justice for its landmark search deal with Yahoo Inc, to challenge market leader Google, the New York Post quoted a source as saying.
Within the next 20 days to 30 days the Justice officials are expected to give unconditional approval to the search pact with an announcement to coincide with approval by the European Commission, the paper wrote.

Amazon launches free Kindle app for BlackBerry
Amazon.com said on Thursday it is launching a new free Kindle application that will give customers access to over 420,000 books on a range of BlackBerry devices.
Called 'Kindle for Blackberry', the free application allows customers using BlackBerry devices on AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, Verizon , and other U.S. carriers easy wireless access to Kindle books, most for $9.99 or less.

HP raises outlook as results beat expectations
Hewlett-Packard Co late Wednesday posted better-than-expected results on strong server and personal computer sales and a resurgence in its printing business, and the company raised its full-year outlook.
Analysts say HP is well-positioned to benefit from an expected surge in enterprise technology spending in 2010, as businesses replace aging equipment. The company said the so-called refresh cycle is underway, with more strength anticipated in the back half of the year.
