WASHINGTON (dpa-AFX) - Clean Diesel Technologies Inc. (CDTI) Tuesday noted that Transport for London, or TfL, which administers the Greater London Low Emission Zone, reiterated its policy of giving first-time non-compliant operators of diesel-engine-powered vehicles a 28-day grace period prior to levying fines. The company added that the resultant retrofit activity bolstered business in fourth-quarter 2011 and may further boost sales in first-quarter 2012.
The TfL's policy was first announced on December 16, 2011, the company said, adding that the policy requires as many as 20 thousand heavy duty diesel vehicle operators to conform to the Euro IV standard for particulate matter by January 3, 2012. Also, by that date, the operators are required to furnish proof of either having purchased or ordered a filter. Operators who meet this requirement may avoid being penalized for non-compliance.
