MADRID (AFX) - Spanish electricity demand fell 1.6 pct to 18,726 GWh gigawatt hours in April from a year earlier, Red Electrica de Espana SA said.
In a statement, REE said that correcting for the difference in the number of days worked and temperature changes, demand rose 4.2 pct, noting the impact of the Easter holiday falling in April this year compared to March last year.
Water reserves in the dams used for hydroelectric energy production stood at 56.0 pct of capacity in April, up 5 pct from March and 10 pct from a year earlier.
In the four months to April, electricity demand grew 1.2 pct to 84,661 GWh. afxmadrid@afxnews.com tr/hjp COPYRIGHT Copyright AFX News Limited 2005. All rights reserved.
