MADRID (AFX) - Zeltia SA's affiliate Pharmamar hopes to launch its Yondelis drug for the treatment of soft tissue sarcoma (STS) in 2007 and for ovarian cancer treatment by 2008-09, the company said in a statement.
PharmaMar submitted to the European Agency for the Evaluation of Medicinal Products (EMEA) the documentation related to its request for approval for its Yondelis drug in the treatment of soft tissue sarcoma (STS) in July.
PharmaMar applied for its Yondelis Phase III clinical trial in ovarian cancer in October.
In July 2003, the EMEA rejected Zeltia's request to authorise the use of Yondelis in the treatment of STS in the EU.
The Yondelis treatment is being developed in the US by PharmaMar in partnership with Johnson & Johnson Pharmeceutical Research & Development, where it is awaiting approval by the FDA for the treatment of STS. afxmadrid@afxnews.com ped/cmr COPYRIGHT Copyright AFX News Limited 2006.
