MADRID (AFX) - Fomento de Construccion y Contratas, Cintra Concesiones de Infraestructuras de Transporte SA and Abertis Infraestructuras SA are considering bids for the Pennsylvania Turnpike in the US, El Economista reported, citing sources at the companies.
The newspaper cites FCC's core shareholder Esther Koplowitz as saying the constructor will table a bid while unnamed sources at Cintra admitted the company is 'evaluating' an offer.
El Economista also cites an Abertis spokesman as saying the firm is considering a bid.
Last week Pennsylvania governor Ed Rendell announced plans to solicit the interest of private firms to lease or buy the motorway, one of the oldest in the US.
The road covers 537 miles (860 kilometres) and includes the main section from the Delaware River to the Ohio border and extensions in the northeast and west.
