BEIJING (AFX) - Alstom SA said it has not won a contract for 1,500 freight train locomotives from the Chinese government, a deal that was reported by the China Securities Journal earlier today.
'There must be confusion by the newspaper. The 1,500 locomotives mentioned represents the entire needs' of China for freight locomotives, Alain Berger, president of Alstom China, told Agence France Presse here.
In October, Alstom signed a 1.2 bln usd deal to supply 500 locomotives, a deal that is close to being finalised, Berger said.
