TOKYO (XFN-ASIA) - Nissan Motor Co is aiming to sell 100,000 commercial vehicles annually in Europe by 2010, twice as many as it sold there in 2005, by roughly tripling the number of related dealerships to 300 and leveraging its sales tie-up with AB Volvo, The Nihon Keizai Shimbun reported.
Nissan currently has a total of 110 commercial vehicle dealerships in France and Italy.
In addition to expanding its network in those two countries, the company intends to set up shop in other markets, including the UK, Germany, Austria and Scandinavia, the report said.
With the tie-up with Volvo, 14 of the Swedish firm's dealerships in Germany are to begin selling Nissan's commercial vehicles this year, with the number expected to rise to 40 by 2007, the report said. After that, the sales network will be expanded to cover Volvo dealerships all over Europe.
