MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (AP) - Augusta Systems said Monday it has won a $10 million computer-networking contract with the U.S. Navy.
The three-year deal calls for linking battlefield sensors and remote-controlled reconnaissance vehicles, which the Morgantown-based company said will speed up the flow of information. The idea is to turn pieces of equipment designed to collect information into computerized network, the company said.
A ground sensor, for instance, that picks up vibrations, will be able to dispatch an unmanned aircraft instead of having headquarters send the vehicle, the company said.
