BEIJING (XFN-ASIA) - Toyota Motor Corp has raised its sales targets for 2007 and next year in China, based on its strong sales performance in the country, the official Xinhua news agency reported.
Citing an unidentified company spokesman, the report said that the Japanese automaker's China sales this year are expected to be 480,000 units, 50,000 units higher than its original target and much higher than its its 2006 sales of 308,000 vehicles.
Its China sales target for 2008 has also been raised to 700,000 units, representing a 46 pct growth year-on-year, the spokesman said.
Toyota aims to sell 1 mln vehicles in China by 2010, with the nation's total auto sales by then commonly projected at around 10 mln, according to the report.
