SYDNEY, Aug 13 (Reuters) - The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) said on Wednesday it would not oppose Westpac Banking Corp's <WBC.AX> proposed acquisition of St George Bank <SGB.AX>, saying it was unlikely to substantially lessen competition.
St George, Australia's fifth-biggest lender, on Tuesday repeated its commitment to the A$17.7 billion ($15.4 billion) offer from Westpac.
