ATHENS, Oct 29 (Reuters) - Greek betting monopoly OPAP will take legal action against UK-based fixed-odds betting firm Stanleybet, after its move to enter the Greek market through opening stores, OPAP's Chief Executive said on Wednesday.
'We will take legal action,' OPAP's CEO Christos Hadjiemmanuil told Reuters. 'Until now, nobody has challenged OPAP's monopoly in Greece, through stores.'
Stanleybet International said earlier on Wednesday it expanded in Greece by opening two stores, even though OPAP holds the exclusive rights on sports betting and lotteries in Greece until 2020 under the Greek law.
