MOSCOW, Jan 7 (Reuters) - Russian President Dmitry Medvedev said on Wednesday the gas dispute with neighbouring Ukraine was worsened by differences within the Ukrainian leadership and urged his counterpart in Kiev to resolve the problem.
'This problem has become a hostage of differences among the Ukrainian leadership,' Medvedev was quoted as saying in a statement issued by the Kremlin.
Medvedev also called on his Ukrainian counterpart, Viktor Yushchenko, to instruct his government to resume talks on the ever-deepening dispute over gas debts and prices.
